Vertical double-sided solar fencing: How can a pasture both enclose land and generate electricity?
In agriculture and animal husbandry, fencing is a fundamental infrastructure. Traditional fencing has a relatively single function, primarily used to demarcate land and protect livestock. Replacing the fencing with a vertically installed double-sided solar system allows for both land enclosure and clean electricity production without changing the land use. This "agricultural-solar complementary" model is attracting increasing attention from farms.

I. High power generation efficiency and land saving
Vertical installation also offers two advantages: firstly, it prevents snow accumulation, making it suitable for winter use in cold regions; secondly, during the morning and evening when sunlight is at an angle, the vertical side receives better sunlight than the inclined side.
Structurally, the main frame is made of high-grade Q355/Q235 carbon steel, with surface corrosion protection options including hot-dip galvanizing (≥80μm) or zinc-aluminum-magnesium (ZAM) coating, resisting corrosion from livestock manure, fertilizers, and humid environments, and adaptable to various climatic conditions. The design lifespan is 25 years.
II. Unobstructed Agricultural Machinery Access and Minimal Land Occupancy
A practical problem faced by many agricultural photovoltaic projects is shading and obstruction—dense pile foundations and inclined module arrays can hinder the passage of large agricultural machinery such as tractors and harvesters. The vertical fence design optimizes this: a clearance of ≥4 meters is reserved between every two rows of fences, allowing combine harvesters, sprayers, fertilizer spreaders, etc., to pass freely without interfering with daily grazing, mowing, and pesticide application operations.

III. Quick Installation and Low Maintenance Costs
Traditional photovoltaic brackets often require on-site cutting, welding, and leveling, resulting in high labor costs. The vertical fence uses a pre-assembled design, with most connectors pre-assembled in the factory, requiring only bolt fixing on-site. Post-installation maintenance is also relatively simple. The vertical surface does not easily accumulate dust and can be kept clean by rainwater; the anti-corrosion layer is thick enough that regular painting is unnecessary. Connectors and seals only need to be inspected every few years.
In summary, it does not obstruct agricultural machinery access, occupies very little arable land, is resistant to wind and snow, corrosion-resistant, and is relatively easy to install and maintain. This is a new option that balances practicality and economic benefits for operators who are planning facilities on the perimeter of ranches or farms.
